Scott Kveton · Solutions: more than technology

"One of the most interesting projects to me as of late has been DiSo. DiSo is short for Distributed Social Networking and is the work of several developers working out in the open, developing real solutions for real users. The mantra of the DiSo team has been one that I can relate to coming from the open source world; lead with code. This touches me right where my Open Source roots come from and I love it." Photo Matt » OpenID and Spam

Magnolia will restrict signups to only OpenID users In an effort to block SPAM. But Matt Mullenweg of WordPress fame says, "At best this is a Club solution, meaning it?ll be effective as long as Magnolia is not a worthwhile enough target or not enough people use the technique. Anyone advocating that a Yahoo, Google, or AOL account is going to stop spam signups, sploggers, or anything of the sort is out of touch with the dark side of the internet." Is OpenID Being Exploited By The Big Internet Companies?

Good post from TC, but kind of curious as to why IBM has not been mentioned in the article when it's been a few weeks since IBM announced they will be supporting OpenID throughout... Yeah, interesting how you "ignore" the players you don't want to tap into because you feel they are from the last centure ... :-P Too funny! Saved By: elsua | View Details | Give Thanks

Not specifically a Portland-based pursuit, but definitely close to many of our geeky hearts. Spread OpenID is a platform helping to spread the idea of OpenID and make it more known among users.
